Leirvassbu is one of Norway's big living rooms for mountain enthusiasts. Located in the heart of Jotunheimen, with over 50 peaks over 2000 meters in day trip distance, the place can offer unique nature experiences both summer and winter.

By car to our winter car park at Sletthamn. Free parking for guests. By skis 6 km on steep trail or scooter or tracked vehicle transportation (pre-booking is necessary)

Summit hike to Stetinden 2020 m.a.s.l. Return hike off trail.

Summit hike to Bukkehøe 2309 m.a.sl. Return hike off trail.

Hike on the T-marked trail in the valleys towards Spiterstulen or Olavsbu. Return the same way.

Walk on T-marked trail or unmarked trails alongside Leirvatnet. Return the same way
Walk on T-marked trail into Gravdalen and to the lakes Gravdalstjørnene. Return the same way.

Other activities and outdoor life enjoyment:
Fishing: There are a number of possibilities for fishing in short distance from the lodge in the nearby lakes. Langvatnet is good choice for fishing. Purchase of fishing licence is necessary.

The lodge has outdoor sitting areas for easy outdoor life enjoyment.

Kiosk at the reception with cold and hot beverage, snacks and sweets.
Day time café serving baked goods, hot and cold lighter meals.
Sales of selected gear and necessities for outdoor life enjoyment at the reception.
Indoor escapes:
Our lodge has several living room spaces, with great views of the landscape that can be enjoyed from the warmth of the fireplace.
There are playing cards, board games and books for guests to borrow (mainly in Norwegian).
Winter at Leirvassbu
In winter Leirvassbu is a popular lodge for summit hikes and an important lodge for multiple day skiing tours in Joutunheimen.

The tradition of the DNT lodges is to be a safe refuge in the mountains and provide shelter and food to the Norwegian Trekking Association members and other mountain travellers. At the DNT lodges we offer beds, not rooms.
We strive to place travel companions in rooms of their own, but in busy periods our guests should expect to share room with other mountain travellers at the self-service cabins and some of our lodges.
