Four-day skiing trip in the north of Hardangervidda mountain plateau
This is the perfect cabin-to-cabin tour for those who want to use public transport in the mountains. The tour starts and ends at railway stations along the Bergen Railway. Finse is a fantastic starting point for a skiing trip from cabin to cabin. A few hours on a train takes you up 1,200 metres above sea level where the whole plateau awaits you.
Day 1 Arrival Finsehytta
The trip starts with a pleasant stay at Finsehytta lodge. Look forward to delicious home-made food and agreeable hosts.
Day 2 Finsehytta to Kjeldebu
Distance: 27 km
The first leg is along a trail marked by branches east of the Hardangerjøkulen glacier. If you’re lucky, you’ll have the sun in your face and the snow will be firm under your skis, That will make for easy skiing to the spacious self-service cabin Kjeldebu, where you can enjoy canned and dried delicacies.
Day 3 Kjeldebu to Krækkja
Distance: 13 km
The next day takes you to Krækkja, the staffed and newly renovated DNT lodge. This is a short, gentle leg, so take your time and enjoy the beautiful scenery!
Day 4 Krækkja to Haugestøl Station
Distance: 14 km
The final leg takes you down to Haugastøl and the train. The station is unmanned, but the heated waiting room is bliss when you turn up sweaty and cold.
