Sandhaug offers guided horseback transit from Tinnhølen to the lodge. This service is available as an all-inclusive package for guests staying two or three nights.
Trip Details & Requirements
Distance: Approximately 18 km each way.
Duration: 3–4 hours of riding.
Terrain: Gentle, flat mountain terrain. Suitable for children.
Skill Level: No prior riding experience is required. Professional handlers accompany every trip.
Capacity & Equipment: Maximum 8 participants per group (one horse per person). All necessary horse tack and equipment are provided.
Itinerary
Day 1: Departure from Tinnhølen
Meeting Point: Tinnhølen parking lot (accessible via a toll road from Highway 7 / Riksvei 7).
Schedule: Preparing the horses, followed by the ride to Sandhaug.
Meals: Participants must bring their own packed lunch for the ride inside the plateau. A rest stop will be made along the trail. Upon arrival at Sandhaug, guests assist with feeding/grooming the horses, followed by a 3-course dinner in the evening.
Day 2 / Day 2–3: Day Activities at Sandhaug
Guests can choose from several recreational options based at the lodge:
Day hikes on foot along marked trails.
Freshwater fishing in the river or from a rowboat. (Note: If you wish to reserve a rowboat, please request this when booking the trip).
Resting at the lodge premises.
Day 3 / Day 4: Return Journey
Breakfast and preparation of packed lunches at the lodge. Preparing the horses and riding back to the designated parking lot at Tinnhølen.
