Sandhaug is located in the very heart of the Hardangervidda plateau. It is a wonderful place to be, whether you want to settle in for a few days of day-trips, or use it as a stop on your cabin-to-cabin trek.
Show Consideration for Wild Reindeer
When you visit Sandhaug, you are in the middle of the Hardangervidda wild reindeer habitat. The wild reindeer in Norway are a threatened species, largely because cabins, roads, and power plants have fragmented and reduced their natural habitats. Even as a visitor to these mountains, your presence can have a negative impact on the animals.
Please read more about how you can help protect and show consideration for the wild reindeer here.
