This is how the trails are marked in Oslomarka

In the forests around Oslo, there are 2700 km of blue-marked trails. The work on signage and marking of the wind paths has been carried out on a voluntary basis ever since this work began in the late 1920s.

About DNT

Signs and marking of trails

In the forests around Oslo and Akershus, there are a myriad of trails. If you go for a walk, you will see that many of them are marked with bruises on the trees. The blue-marked trails lead you to many great hiking destinations around. The trails are followed up by DNT Oslo and Omegn and local hiking teams. We do our best to ensure that you can travel safely and find your way in the forest. Therefore, we mark in blue and put up signs to the most important places in the forest. The work on signage and marking of the wind paths has been carried out on a voluntary basis ever since this work began in the late 1920s. You will find 2700 km of bruised trails in the forest.

See the trail network on ut.no

You can find the trail network by searching in UT.no. This map retrieves information from the Norwegian Mapping Authority's database, where we enter information continuously. It usually takes some time from the time changes are made until they become visible on the UT.no.

What is the difference between red and blue labeling?

The red markers = Ski slope
The red markers show ski trails and are marked by the Ski Association and Oslo Municipality. Many of the ski trails can be nice to walk even in the summer, but keep in mind that they can cross water and marshes.

The blue marks = Foot route
The blue badges are summer trails that are followed up by DNT Oslo and Omegn, local hiking teams and volunteers. We do our best to ensure that you can travel safely and find your way in the forest.

Become part of the trail builder team!

All blue-marked trails are kept open by volunteer work. Every year, vegetation is cleared down, and every year it grows back. Our goal is to provide hikers with a nice and passable trail network.
