Security and wet cards with DNT

DNT Oslo and Omegn is very concerned about safety and that you who participate in our kayak activities feel safe, even if you may challenge yourself a little in between.

What is våttkort?

Våttkort is the Norwegian Paddle Association's (NPF) educational ladder. Våttkort is the course certificate of NPF and you can choose whether you want to take an introductory course, three hours, or a basic course, two days.

The intro course covers the basics of paddling, such as paddling techniques and buddy rescue.

On the basic course, you will learn several paddling techniques, self-rescue, tour management, navigation and outdoor life.

Have you lost your wet card?

Contact the Norwegian Paddle Association here: kurs@padleforbundet.no. Remember to state which course you have taken, name and contact information.

Take a wet card with DNT

Through our intro and basic courses, you can take wet cards. The courses are conducted at Sørenga, Breivoll Gård in Bunnefjorden, Fornebu, Sandvika, Vollen or Sætre.

The intro course takes approx. three hours and upon completion of the course you will receive a wet card with intro course sticker, as well as access to rent a kayak from all our locations in the Oslo Fjord.

To learn more and become more confident to go on your own paddling trips, we recommend a two-day basic course that also includes the introductory course content. Here you will learn more about trip planning, navigation, packing a kayak and self-rescue in addition to buddy rescue.

We also arrange tours led by an instructor and trips led by volunteers. Here you can join everything from a 3-hour trip to overnight trips with a kayak. See all paddling trips here.

After you have taken a basic course and paddled a little, you can move on and take a technique course. Here you will learn more about paddling in larger waves, more advanced paddling techniques, safety, planning, good routines and outdoor life.
