New Route Suggestion: The Rondane Triangle from Straumbu
Starting the Rondane Triangle from Straumbu feels like walking straight into a painting.
Not far from Straumbu lies Sohlbergplassen, the viewpoint where artist Harald Sohlberg was inspired to paint his famous masterpiece, "Winter Night in the Mountains" (Vinternatt i Rondane).
Straumbu is a major gateway to Rondane from the east and an excellent starting point for hiking in Norway's oldest national park. It features a large parking area, with the T-marked trail to Bjørnhollia starting directly from the parking lot.
To get here, drive over the Ringebufjellet mountain pass and take Route 27 toward Atna. This is the shortest route into Bjørnhollia, and many of our guests choose to park at Straumbu and walk in to the cabin. Once at Bjørnhollia, you have excellent options for both day trips and summit hikes.
We have designed a custom variation of the classic Rondane Triangle, starting and ending at Straumbu and Bjørnhollia.
