The DNT cabin at the Norwegian Folk Museum
In DNT's 150th anniversary in 2018, Hovinkoia was given a permanent place at the Norwegian Folk Museum. At that time, the cabin had stopped by the Palace Park and shown off during the royal couple's regent jubilee in 2016.

Today, Hovinkoia stands on one of the most beautiful plots at the Norwegian Folk Museum. The cabin is in good condition and it is furnished exactly as it was, when it was in use as an unmanned DNT cabin. Now the cabin is used to showcase our common cultural heritage, which the DNT cabins really are.
History of Hovinkoia
The unmanned DNT cabin Hovinkoia was the forerunner of many of today's DNT cabins. When you enter the cabin that now stands at the Norwegian Folk Museum, you will see that this is a typical DNT cabin.
- Opened in 1937
- Was the forerunner of many of today's DNT cabins.
- Architect: Henrik Nissen the Younger Supplied by A/S Eker Dampsag.
- The cabin was unmanned, with 8 beds.
- Has been located in the southeastern part of Holleia, 230 meters above sea level in Ringerike in Buskerud.
- In 2016, the cabin was moved to Slottsparken.
- After her stay in the Palace Park, Hovinkoia is now permanently placed at the Norwegian Folk Museum.
- The DNT cabin at the Norwegian Folk Museum is open to the public for periods, with volunteers from DNT as cabin guards. There is a separate volunteer group in DNT Oslo and Omegn that takes on the assignments as cabin guards.
- At Holleia a new self-service cabin, "New Hovinkoia", has been built.

In the summer of 2016, there were two DNT cabins in Slottsparken
In connection with the royal couple's anniversary, "The Royal Couple for 25 years" in 2016, the Palace Park was temporarily transformed into Jubileumsparken. From the official opening on Monday 13 June, there were exciting exhibitions and a variety of activities until September.
As part of the celebration, DNT was invited to set up two of their cabins. Hovinkoia was taken down plank by plank, and came rolling on a truck all the way into the castle park. There it was rebuilt. A brand new DNT cabin also came to the park. This was a module of the new Skåpet, which was later set up in Ryfylke.
The two cabins were open to the public all summer. Volunteer cabin guards from DNT were on site to tell about DNT and the cabin history from old to new.
Permanent place at the Norwegian Folk Museum
Hovinkoia has been given a permanent place at the Norwegian Folk Museum – and it is now called the DNT cabin at the Norwegian Folk Museum
The DNT cabin has been given Bygdøy's most beautiful plot, and towers on a peak overlooking the open-air museum's grassy roof and out towards the Viking Ship Museum's tower. The public walks through the open-air museum's yard, first up through the homestead and then up to the cabin. Alternatively, they can take the slightly more tortuous DNT trail on the steep slope up. Once up, they can sit on the viewpoint in the cabin wall and enjoy the sun and views, or sit on the log benches around the fire pit.
When cabin guards DNT are in place, it is possible to take a look inside the cabin.
The cabin is open to the museum's guests during the winter holidays, autumn holidays, Easter and during the two Christmas market weekends in December, staffed by volunteer cabin guards from DNT Oslo and the surrounding area.
