Summit hikes in Breheimen

Breheimen is a real eldorado for summit hikes on foot. Here you will find several mountain peaks of over 2000 meters that provide absolutely fantastic views and magical hiking experiences. In Breheimen, you hike between glaciers, peaks and deep valleys. We have come up with a number of summit hiking tips so that you can explore all the peaks in Breheimen.

Summit hike to Tverrådalskyrkja (2088m)

Length: 9.5 km one way
Duration: 8 hours. 
Grading: Demanding
Start: Sota Sæter

The view on a clear day from Tverreådalskyrkja takes your breath away. From the top you can see the Tafjord mountains in the north, the large long Jostedalsbreen glacier and Hurrungane and Jotunheimen with the many alpine peaks in the south.

Summit hike to Middalsnosi from Nørdstedalseter

Length: 14 km
Duration: 4 hours
Start: Nørdstedalseter
Finisher: Nørdstedalseter

A short summit hike of 3 to 4 hours to Middalsnosi from Nørdstedalseter with a great view of Fortunsdalen, among other things. This tour is also suitable for children. In total, there is about 450 meters of elevation gain on the trip.

Summit trip to Sotflyi from Sota Sæter

Great summit hike that starts right out the door at Sota Sæter. From Sotflyi you get a wonderful view of Liavatnet and down Mysubyttdalen. 

Summit hike to Liabrekulen from Nørdstedalseter

If you want to see Jotunheimen up close, you won't find a nicer vantage point! The mountain peak Liabrekulen (1910 masl) is located right up from the DNT cabin Nørdstedalseter and has the most beautiful view of Jotunheimen! Here you can see the entire range of peaks in Jotunheimen and towards the high and fine peaks in Breheimen, from Hestbrepiggane, via Holåtindane and Tverrådalskyrkja to Lodalskåpa that sticks out over the ice cap on Jostedalsbreen.

Bike ride in Breheimen - down Fortunsdalen, Norway's longest downhill?

In Fortundsdalen in Breheiemen you will find perhaps Norway's longest downhill for cycling. From Middalsvatnet above the serviced tourist association cabin Nørdstedalseter to Fortun down by the Sognefjord, there is a gravel road over 30 kilometers long with a height difference of 1300 meters from top to bottom.
