Kayak rental in Oslo and Akershus

Kayaks can be rented from several places in the surrounding area. DNT Oslo og Omegn has facilities at Breivoll Gård in the innermost part of the Bunnefjord, in the center of Oslo and out on the fjord islands, Fornebu, Sandvika and in Asker.

Locations in Oslo

If you want to rent a kayak in Oslo, you can choose between four rental locations:

The open-air house at Sørenga

Rent a kayak directly from the tip of Sørenga in Oslo. Here you can easily pre-order a kayak online or pick up a kayak at drop-in from the store. Friluftshuset is open on weekdays and weekends, opening hours for Friluftshuset can be found here.

Breivoll Farm in Bunnefjord

Breivoll Gård is a small oasis in the innermost part of Bunnefjord in Ås municipality. Here there is a nice farm café, overnight barn and premises that can be rented. Kayak rental is done from the floating warehouse.

Gressholmen

At the unmanned DNT cabins on Gressholmen there is a kayak warehouse where you can rent a kayak. The kayak warehouse is located in a separate building down by the sea. Here it is a short distance to the pier where it is easy to go out with a kayak. Remember to check the timetables for the boat before renting.

Langøyene

At the unmanned DNT cabin on Langøyene there is a kayak warehouse where you can rent a kayak. The kayak camp is located in a separate building right next to the cabin. Remember to check the timetables for the boat before renting a kayak. The warehouse is only open when the scheduled boat goes out to Langøyene.

Locations in Asker and Bærum

In recent years, DNT Oslo og Omegn has opened several places where you can rent kayaks in Asker and Bærum. More information about the kayak offer in Bærum can be found on Bærum Turlag's website.

Fornebu in Bærum

Bærum Hiking Association has a self-service facility on Oksenøya, Fornebu. Here there are eight kayaks available for pre-booking. The rental at Oksenøya is located in the basement of the Oksenøya mill at Fornebu. The nearest bus stop is Telenor Fornebu and from there it is about 15 min walk.

Bjørnsvika in Sandvika

Bærum Turlag has a self-service kayak facility in Bjørnsvika, Sandvika. Here there are 20 kayaks available for pre-booking. From Bjørnsvika you have access to many nice islands in the Oslo Fjord, several of which you can also spend the night on if you want to go on a longer trip.

The embankment in Asker

Asker Turlag has a self-service kayak facility at the cabin called Driver's Residence, which is located at Elnestangen in Vollen. From Elnestangen you can reach several islands or paddle along the coastline. Lågøya is located about 9 kilometers paddling south, and requires crossing about 3 km. open waters.

Sætre in Asker

We will open a new, self-service kayak facility at Hurum Sailing Association south of Sætre city center by July 1, 2026. Here there are a lot of opportunities for great paddling trips, both in sheltered waters, or out towards Oscarsborg and around Håøya. This is also the facility closest to Lågøya, just under 7 km. northwards.

Annual pass on kayak rental

Annual pass is an offer for members of DNT Oslo and Omegn. The annual pass can be used at all the kayak facilities of DNT Oslo and Omegn and lasts one calendar year (1 January - 31 December). Note that most of the facilities are closed throughout the winter months, but that Friluftshuset at Sørenga is basically open throughout the winter
