Litlos serves as a base for fishing the lakes and streams on the western part of the Hardangervidda plateau.
Fishing Locations
There are several fishing waters located near the cabin. Conditions vary depending on the weather and season; updated information and recommendations can be obtained from the cabin staff upon arrival.
Boat and Canoe Rental
Litlosvatnet: Located directly below the cabin. Rowboats and canoes are available for rent.
Skavatnet: Located approximately 1.5 km north of the cabin. Rowboats are available for rent.
Note: Life vests are provided at the cabin.
Fishing Licenses
Because there is no mobile coverage at Litlos or across large parts of Hardangervidda, fishing licenses must be purchased in advance via inatur.no
Felleskort – Stongfiske Hardangervidda Vest: Covers a large area on the western plateau, including the waters around both Litlos and Sandhaug. Ullensvang statsallmenning: A more localized, lower-cost option covering the state commons around the cabin.
Follow these tips when traveling in mountainous areas with wild reindeer:
Follow marked trails
Stay still if you see wild reindeer, so that they can move away undisturbed
Use binoculars and keep your distance
Keep dogs on a leash
Stay low in the terrain and move in the wind so that the animals do not get the smell from you
Keep an eye on the dog and follow the rules on leashing
