Solheimstulen is an excellent starting point for hiking and cycling adventures on Hardangervidda and Imingfjell.
Swimming trip to Beltetjønne
Beltetjønne is a small, shallow, and idyllic lake featuring a lovely little sandy beach, perfect for swimmers of all ages. It is located along the marked route heading west from Solheimstulen towards Hardangervidda, right between Solheimstulen and Dyregravshalle.
The "Krukenuten Rundt" Loop
This is a beautiful 11-kilometer round trip that starts and ends at Solheimstulen. The terrain climbs steadily by about 300 vertical meters, treating you to both open mountain plateaus and sheltered forest sections. This hike is best enjoyed during the summer months (June to September) when the trails are dry.
Around Imingfjell by bike
Enjoy 48 kilometers of high mountain terrain, sheltered pine forests, and stunning lakes. Along the route, you can experience fantastic hospitality at both Solheimstulen Turisthytte and Imingfjell Turistheim.
Children's "Turbo Tour" at Solheimstulen
The "Turbo Tour" (named after DNT's children's mascot) takes you through a lovely mountain area with exciting views. The route offers varied terrain with both calm sections and short, fun climbs. It is tailor-made for families with very young children who want a taste of the high mountains in a shorter format.
Hike to the historic Dyregravshalle trapping site
Located along the historic Store Nordmannsslepa trail, Dyregravshalle is Hardangervidda's largest ancient reindeer trapping facility. It features around 100 historical pitfall traps and guiding fences. An informative on-site display board tells the fascinating history of the area.

The Triangle Trek on Eastern Hardangervidda (Trekanten)
Looking for a rewarding challenge? Experience 72.5 km of mountain magic divided into three wonderful cabin-to-cabin stays. Most hikers start their journey at Solheimstulen, trekking to Mårbu and Rauhelleren before returning to Solheimstulen. The daily stages range between 20–30 km.
