Bergen og Hordaland Turlag, in cooperation with Voss Utferdslag, operates several cabins in Bergsdalen and Kvammafjella. This varied mountain terrain is located between Vaksdal, Bulken, Kvamskogen, and the Hardangerfjord.
Accessibility and Cabin Types
The area is situated approximately a 1.5-hour drive from Bergen. The local network includes both self-service (selvbetjente) and unserviced (ubetjente) cabins, in addition to the rental cabin Alexander Grieg.
Summer and Winter Trekking
The trail network connects the cabins for multi-day trekking. The routes are well-maintained, and several sections are suitable for families with children. Multiple lakes along the trails are open for fishing and swimming.
Summer Trail Marking: DNT trails are marked with painted red Ts on rocks and cairns.
Winter Trail Marking: During the winter season, selected routes between the cabins are temporarily staked with birch twigs.
