Rondvassbu is situated in the heart of Rondane National Park, with no direct road access for cars. In the summer, you can walk or cycle the 6 km from Spranget. In the winter, the distance is 11 km on skis.
Note: Any discussed changes to the route from Spranget will not take effect until the summer of 2027 at the earliest. For the summer of 2026, new parking regulations apply at Spranget. Please read the details below.
Summer
By Car / Train / Bus
Travel by car, train, or express bus to Otta. From Otta, exit the E6 highway just south of the town towards Mysusæter. If you travel without a car, take bus 205 from Otta via Mysusæter to Spranget. This bus route operates until August 16th.
Important: New Parking Regulations at Spranget
Starting July 5th, parking at Spranget is prohibited between 11:00 PM and 6:00 AM.
Overnight guests: We recommend parking at Mysusæter and taking the shuttle bus to Spranget. The bus ride takes approximately 10 minutes.
Day visitors: You may park at Spranget. From Mysusæter, drive through the toll gate to Tjønnbakken and proceed to Spranget (toll fee: NOK 50). From there, it is a 6 km walk to Rondvassbu, which takes about 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can cycle the gravel road, which takes approximately 30 minutes. See bicycle rental details below.
Bicycle Rental
Bicycles can be rented at Spranget. Payment is completed via the Vipps app, and instructions are posted on-site. Please download your payment receipt, as ticket inspections may occur along the road.
You can also rent a bicycle at Rondvassbu and ride it to Spranget. Bikes are usually available but cannot be reserved in advance.

Passenger Boat across Rondvatnet
During the summer season, a passenger boat operates across Lake Rondvatnet, running from Rondvassbu to the northern end of the lake. Read more about the passenger boat here.
Winter
By Public Transport
If you arrive by train or express bus in Otta, the taxi ride to Spranget is just over 20 km. To book a taxi from Otta, call +47 61 23 05 01 or maxicab at +47 90 90 30 24.
By Car
Exit the E6 just south of Otta towards Mysusæter. You can park at "Letruds Parkering" for NOK 40 per day. Payment can be made with Vipps or cash.
Ski Route
From the parking area, it is an 11 km ski trip to Rondvassbu. The route has a significant incline during the first 2 km up Tjønnbakken, followed by gentler terrain for the remainder of the trip. The journey takes between 3 to 4 hours, depending on physical fitness and the weight of your pack.
