Practical Information About Stavali
Below is useful information to help you prepare for your upcoming visit to the cabin.
Dining & Food
Meals Provided: All overnight guests receive full board, which includes a 3-course dinner, a breakfast buffet, and a self-packed lunch. The meals consist of traditional Norwegian food made with local ingredients from the Hardanger region.
Daytime Service: During lunchtime, waffles, traditional sour cream porridge (rømmegrøt) with cured meats, as well as kiosk items and snacks, are available for purchase.
Allergies & Dietary Needs: If you have any food allergies or dietary restrictions, please notify the hosts in advance by sending an email to stavali@dnt.no.
Accommodation & Booking
Bedding Requirements: Guests must bring and use their own sleep sheet (liner bag) or bed linen. Bed linen is available for rent at the lodge during the staffed season if forgotten.
Room Types: The main lodge offers twin rooms, 4-bed rooms, and a dormitory loft. In addition, a separate summer farm cabin (Seterbua) and a stone cabin (Steinbua) are located approximately 100 meters from the main building.
Online Reservations: You can check availability and reserve your preferred room type online through the DNT cabin booking system.
Electricity & Charging
- The cabin is equipped with a solar power system. USB charging ports are available for guest use in the main living room.
- Network Coverage & Internet
- There is no mobile phone coverage or internet access at Stavali or the immediate surrounding area. Network connection is only reachable by hiking several kilometers away from the valley. Please complete important calls before departure.
Restrooms & Showers
Stavali features traditional outdoor toilets located in a separate building. There are no shower facilities available at the cabin.
Traveling with Dogs
Dogs are welcome at Stavali. Two designated dog cages are located in the outhouse, and advance online booking for these is highly recommended.
Important: Dogs are not permitted inside the main lodge or any common indoor areas. Guests who wish to sleep in the same room as their dog must book either the separate farm cabin (Seterbua) or the stone cabin (Steinbua).
Be considerate of the wild reindeer on a trip
The wild reindeer's habitats are under pressure. This is how you can pay attention if you are in a wild reindeer area.
