For many, the motivation for a long march is the cabin that awaits at the other end. To feel the heat that sits in the walls from the fireplace as soon as the hiking boots are off, and to have the food served. As a member of DNT, you get a discount on accommodation and food at all the Norwegian Trekking Association cabins across the country. 42 out of 590 cabins are staffed, with hosts and food service. Children and youth get half price on accommodation.
Members can get their own key to the no-service and self-service cabins. At the self-service there is a food warehouse so you can go with a lighter backpack and buy the food there instead. "Going to the cabin" never has to be the same again, because you can always travel to a new cabin, every single time!
