If you are planning a trip to Kjerag this summer, we recommend that you combine it with an overnight stay or two at the Lysefjord tourist cabin. The starting point for the trip to Kjerag starts only 15 minutes by car from the tourist cabin. You do not need your own car, as there is a bus from Lysebotn to Kjerag several times a day.
Day 1
You can leave the car on the quay at Lauvvik, and take the express boat into the beautiful Lysefjord. Let the trip into the fjord be part of the experience, you can see timetables and book a place here, remember that the express boat does not run on Saturdays. You can see Preikestolen, Flørlitrappene and Kjeragbolten from the boat, and if you are extra lucky, you get to experience a base jumper in free fall from Kjerag. When you arrive in Lysebotn, it is only a couple of minutes to walk to the tourist cabin.

Spend the afternoon exploring what Lysebotn has to offer. You can stay around the tourist cabin and go goldfish hunting, go for a walk along the river to the waterfall, take the kids to the playground or just relax with games in the garden. After dinner, you take your fishing rod down to the fjord and watch the sun set, before you get a good night's sleep in good and upright beds.
Day 2
The next morning, you eat a good breakfast and make a packed lunch, before you take the bus from the quay up to Øygardstøl, the starting point for the trip to Kjerag. You can book the bus in advance here. This will be a day trip, so remember to bring plenty of drinks, in addition to your packed lunch.

Enjoy relaxation in the fireplace lounge after the trip
After the trip, you can relax in the garden or in the cozy fireplace lounge and enjoy a good and well-deserved dinner in the restaurant. The fireplace lounge has a beautiful pillow corner, where you can enjoy the view.

Day 3
The next morning, all you have to do is look forward to discovering more of what Lysebotn has to offer. You can also play frisbee golf in the valley or go pole hunting. Otherwise, just enjoy life and let your shoulders sink into the heart of the world's most beautiful fjord.

The journey home
At 15.15 the trip goes back to Lauvvik with the express boat. If you choose to drive with your own car, there is a car ferry on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. It is also great to drive over the mountains via Hunnedalen. You can see timetables and book a place here, remember that the car ferry does not run on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
