SjekkUT (CheckOUT in english) is DNT's digital trip registration and guestbook. With SjekkUT in the UT app, you can register your visits digitally, and collect hiking posts, mountain peaks, cabins and other hiking destinations (POI's) all over the country.
You can compete against yourself or participate in various competitions. Anyone can use SjekkUT and it's completely free!

You must have the UT app to be able to register your visits digitally when you are on a trip. Open the app and look for the CheckOUT button when you are near the cabin or hiking destination!
The UT app is available for iPhone and Android phones and can be downloaded on respective app stores. The app is of course completely free!
Participate in competitions or compete against yourself or friends to collect hiking destinations and cabins.

You can "check in" at thousands of cabins and hiking destinations across the country. Some are easily accessible, while others are a little more hidden. Find them all in the UT app or on UT.no
Share your trip with others
Once you have checked in at a SjekkUT destination, you can write in the digital guestbook. Share the joy of hiking and inspiration with other hikers.
Typical questions about CheckOUT
I forgot to check in at the destination I went to. Can I have it registered afterwards?
Yes, you can do that yourself. Find the relevant hiking destination or cabin on UT.no. Scroll down to the digital guestbook. Here is a link called "Do it here". You can also send an email to post@ut.no for help.
Can I use CheckOUT when I don't have mobile coverage?
You can check in with CheckOUT even if you do not have mobile coverage. There are two ways to do this, here you can read about them.
Why does my UT app and CheckOUT feature look different from my friend's?
In 2026, we launched a new version of the UT app. This will be rolled out gradually to users of the UT app. This means that some people get the new version before others. We don't know exactly when some people will get the new version, but everyone will get it.
You must be within a certain distance to be able to check in at a CheckOUT point. If you are close enough, the CheckOUT button will turn green, and you are ready to register your visit.
Get inspired with our lists!
On UT.no an the UT app you can find hundreds of lists of recommended hiking destinations and cabins, compiled by DNT's member associations. By "following" or signing up for a list, you can easily have an overview of how many places in the list you have visited.
You can also make your own lists with places you want to go, cabins you want to visit or routes you want to hike.
Now comes CheckUT signs
From the spring of 2026, physical CheckUT signs will be hung up around the country. We start with hiking destinations near cities and towns, but the goal is for you to find the signs at most of our cabins and hiking destinations in Norway.
