Five trips from cabin-to-cabin
Have you started planning this summer's cabin-to-cabin trip? Here are five wonderful suggestions, whether you want long days in the mountains, in the woods, on the plateau or close to the city. Or how about a paddling trip between DNT cabins in Southern Norway?
Hiking: Between glaciers and peaks in Breheimen

Do you want to experience mountains and valleys, glaciers and peaks, and not meet many others? Then you should go to Breheimen and walk the first leg of the long-distance route Massiv. It can be made easier by choosing a glacier guide over Fortundalsbreen instead of following the path along Illvatnet.
The trip starts at Sota Sæter, at the heart of the lush Bråtådalen valley in Skjåk municipality. Right here you are probably not alone, because many people are attracted by the beautiful DNT cabin that is surrounded by seductive waterfalls and mountains and mighty pines. But as soon as you set off in the direction Nørdstedalseter The next day, up the valley side and past Tverrådalskyrkja, there are not so many who follow.
Nørdstedalseter is also one of the smallest, serviced DNT cabins. The trip goes in rocks and scree and over glaciers, and if you are lucky, you have an absolutely insane view of Jostedalsbreen and other delights for miles around. Further towards Sognefjellshytta, you walk over mountains and valleys, with great contrasts along the way. And if the weather permits, you can enjoy the view of the mighty Smørstabbmassif and Fannaråken in Jotunheimen.

Wide trip: Endless horizons on Hardangervidda

By train, bus and boat, you can easily get far into Hardangervidda. Hardangervidda along the length is the trip for those who have not walked much in the mountains before, and who want a start, or for those who have a lot of experience, and know how to appreciate the rolling landscape of Hardangervidda. In short, a trip on Hardangervidda that suits everyone!
Urban Tour: Wilderness by the City

Explore the beautiful Østmarka and sleep in the unmanned forest cabins a stone's throw from Oslo! A recommended three-day trip is to start from Bysetermåsan and go into Øvresaga (3.5 km).
The homestead Øvresaga is an idyll surrounded by pastures, cultural landscapes and lush forest. Here you actually have to close the gate, because the animals graze right outside the cabin fence. The next day goes through wild and hilly terrain to Bøvelstad.
Day 3 starts by following the Refugee Route a bit back and further through wild and lush spruce forest to Luttjern. A recommendation is a walk on an unmarked path up the south-facing and lush hillside to the top of Tonekollen on the way. Here you have beautiful views of elongated waters, rolling hills, wild cliffs and crooked pines.
The return trip goes over Vesle Tonekollen and Pølseberget to Vangen where you can end the trip by enjoying fresh baked goods with a view.
Coastal tour: By kayak from cabin-to-cabin along the coast of Southern Norway

How about a slightly different spin on the DNT cabin trip by replacing your backpack and shoes with a kayak and paddle? A recommended round trip is to paddle from cabin-to-cabin in the Tvedestrandsfjord, Lyngørfjord and the archipelago beyond. Along this paddling route, there are many nice islets, coves and beaches that can be explored and experienced.
Start from Sagesund and start slowly with a shorter paddling trip to Furøya where there are two beautiful and historic DNT cabins, Forrenterboligen and Gjestehuset. The next stage goes to Seilerhytta at the far end of Oksefjorden. Here there are fine sandy beaches suitable for landing kayaks. Then the trip goes to the majestic Lyngør lighthouse , which is a somewhat longer stage. The last stage goes from Lyngør through Snaresund, on the inside of Borøya, back to Sagesund.
Varied tour: Experience the whole spectrum from mountains and scree to a lush landscape

Join us on a trip over rocks, scree and soft paths surrounded by lush landscape and beautiful mountain lakes. The round trip in Bergsdalen from Hamlagrøosen to Lid is a 3-4 day trip with accommodation in DNT cabins in a very varied terrain.
Start from Hamlagrøosen in Bergsdalen and walk in easy terrain into Vending. The next day, the trip goes to Gullhorgabu which is a beautiful innovation of a cabin. This stage is in somewhat demanding terrain, so you have to spend the whole day here. Then the trip goes to Høgabu with a great view towards Trollaskardet to the southeast and Bukkafjellet behind down to Lid. On the last day, the trip goes down to Lid.
