SignaTUR Trollheimen

At least once in your life, you should treat yourself to a SignaTUR. These are Norway's finest long-distance trips – carefully selected, quality assured and highly recommended by DNT. The routes are well marked and run between traditional cabins in Trollheimen.

Around Trollheimen – a true classic in the Norwegian mountains

SignaTUR Trollheimen is a classic 6-day cabin to cabin expedition. The route weaves through some of the most breathtaking mountain valleys in Norway: Gjevilvassdalen, Jøldalen, Storlidalen, Folldalen, and Innerdalen. Here, towering peaks, lush green valleys, and historic alpine farms come together in one continuous, unforgettable adventure.

This is the perfect itinerary for those seeking a varied, deeply scenic week-long trek in the Norwegian high mountains, complete with excellent accommodation options and several opportunities for spectacular summit hikes along the way.

Briefly about the stages

he trek begins and ends at the historic Gjevilvasshytta cabin, forming a magnificent loop through ever-changing terrain. On several stages, you can customize your daily route to match your ambition, choosing between panoramic trails over Geithetta, a relaxed trek through the lush Svartådalen valley, or a challenging crest hike over the three peaks of Trollhetta.

Many hikers choose to add an extra rest day at Trollheimshytta to tackle the summit hike to Snota (1,668 masl), widely considered one of the most iconic and rewarding peaks in Trollheimen.

Daily Distance: Approx. 13–29 km, depending on your chosen route options.

Historic cabins along SignaTUR Trollheimen

Few mountain regions in Norway boast as many traditional, atmospheric tourist cabins as Trollheimen. On this signature trek, well-marked trails seamlessly connect five distinct alpine valleys, each entirely unique in character.

In several of these valleys, traditional summer dairy farming is still actively practiced, adding a rich cultural layer to your wilderness journey.
