Travel to Stjørdal
To Stjørdal by train:
Stjørdal is highly accessible by rail. If you are traveling from the north, there are frequent connections via the Nordland Line (Nordlandsbanen). From the south, take the Dovre Line (Dovrebanen) to Trondheim Central Station, and transfer to the local Trønder Line (Trønderbanen) to Værnes/Stjørdal.
Trondheim Airport Værnes (TRD) is located directly in Stjørdal and has flight connections to most airports across Norway and several international hubs. SAS, Norwegian and Widerøe all land here.

Local and regional bus services to Stjørdal are operated by AtB.
How to get back after the Norway cross-country trip
From June 29 to August 14, 2026, a convenient bus connection is available from Nedalshytta back to Værnes and Trondheim. The bus departs Monday through Friday at 06:32 AM from the parking lot just below Nedalshytta cabin.
How it works: Board Bus 535 at Nedalshytta. At Selbu Skysstasjon, you will seamlessly transfer to the corresponding Bus 430, which takes you the rest of the way.
Tickets: Tickets can be purchased in advance via the AtB mobile app or directly on the bus.
Because the morning bus departs early, catching it requires spending an extra night at Nedalshytta. To make this easier for you, hikers embarking on the "Norway across" expedition receive a special, discounted offer on accommodation when utilizing this bus service.

Winter Notice
Please note that the mountain road leading to Nedalshytta cabin is closed during the winter. Consequently, it is not possible to access or leave the cabin by bus, taxi, or personal car once the winter snow arrives.
