Trondhjem's Trekking Association (TT) is Central Norway's largest outdoor organization with about 22,000 members. The association's main areas are Trollheimen and Sylan. TT operates 18 tourist cabins, six of which are staffed. Every year, these cabins are visited by 24,000 mountain hikers.

DNT Nord-Trøndelag (NTT) was established in 1972 and changed its name to DNT Nord-Trøndelag at the annual meeting on 23 March 2022. The association currently has about 4500 members.
DNT Nord-Trøndelag consists of three hiking teams; Namdal hiking team, Innherred hiking team and Skarven hiking team. NTT currently has 15 cabins in the mountain region and 500 km of marked trails in the mountains.
