History of Sæteren Farm
The Norwegian Trekking Association Oslo and Omegn bought Sæteren Gård from Statsbygg in February 2000 for NOK 3 million. The property consists of 120 acres of uncultivated land, 60 acres of inland land and in 2000 consisted of a main house, barn, storehouse, stables, garage and six cabins.
Home improvement
All the buildings were very dilapidated when we took over the place. The main house has been renovated with a new roof, tight walls and fresh colors on all walls both inside and out. The storehouse and three of the cabins have also been restored. The cabins serve as accommodation. The purchase and parts of the renovation were financed by a gift from Olav Thon.
Gapahuk
A shelter has been set up on the property. The shelter was built with the help of funds from Bekkestua Rotary and Innerweel Club. Several permanent fire pits have also been built. These are financed by Bærum municipality.
Nature trail
A permanent nature and adventure trail has been developed, and an adventure trail has been developed. In collaboration with Fossum IL, a separate o-map has also been developed that provides good opportunities for orienteering activities. Fixed posts are hanging out.
New sleeping house
In 2005, the garage was demolished and work was started on building a new sleeping house and manager's house. These buildings were officially opened in April 2006. The dormitory sleeps 48 children. These buildings have also been financed by Olav Thon.
