Want to learn how to recognise avalanche terrain and make safer decisions in the mountains? Every winter, DNT Fjellsport offers a range of avalanche courses and guided hikes designed to help you build the knowledge and skills needed to travel safely in winter mountain terrain.
Whether you are new to backcountry skiing or looking to deepen your understanding of snow science, avalanche forecasting, group decision-making, and human factors, we offer courses for all experience levels. You'll learn how to identify avalanche terrain, assess conditions, choose safer routes, and find the best snow while reducing risk.
Please note: All DNT avalanche courses are conducted in Norwegian, and participants must be able to speak and understand Norwegian to take part.

All DNT avalanche courses are led by experienced instructors certified according to the Norwegian Mountain Sports Forum's National Standard, the highest national qualification for mountain sports instruction in Norway. DNT is also an approved course provider under the same standard, ensuring high-quality instruction based on recognised teaching methods and safety practices.
