Getting to Langsua

Langsua National Park is situated between the Valdres and Gudbrandsdalen valleys. The region is accessible via several road networks and public transportation routes.

Primary trailheads into Langsua include Lillehammer in the east, and Beitostølen or Yddin in the west. Alternatively, the area can be accessed from Gjendesheim in Jotunheimen by trekking southeast via Sikkilsdalseter toward Oskampen. Utilizing the public transportation network allows for multi-day point-to-point or circuit routes to be completed without a private vehicle.

Access from Lillehammer (Eastern Approach)

Train and Bus to Liomseter:

Direct Service: From June 19 to September 6, 2026, a direct bus service operates between Lillehammer and Liomseter on Thursdays and Sundays. For detailed schedules, visit Innlandstrafikk

Alternative Days: Take the train to Lillehammer, followed by regional bus 140 to Segalstad Bru (departures every 30 minutes). Onward transport from Segalstad Bru to Liomseter must be pre-booked via Gausdal Drosjesentral at +47 61 22 02 08.

Train and Bus to Espedalen

Take the train to Lillehammer, followed by regional bus lines 140 and 5024 to either Espedalen Fjellhotell or Dalseter Høyfjellshotell. From these locations, follow the T-marked summer trails to the self-service cabin Storhøliseter (approximately a 3-hour hike).

From Lillehammer winter:

Train and Bus to Espedalen

Take the train to Lillehammer, followed by a regional bus to Espedalen Fjellhotell. From the hotel, the winter route to Storhøliseter covers approximately 15 km on skis.

From Valdres and Jotunheimen

By bus summer

Heggenes / Yddin

Take the Valdresekspressen coach service toward Beitostølen and disembark at Heggenes. From Heggenes, it is 13 km to Yddin; pre-booking a taxi is required. From Yddin, follow the T-marked summer trails toward the Storeskag or Haldorbu cabins.

Valdresflye / Jotunheimen

Take the coach via Beitostølen and across the Valdresflye mountain plateau. From Valdresflye or Gjendesheim, follow the T-marked summer trails toward Sikkilsdalen and Oskampen.

By bus winter

Heggenes / Yddin

Take the Valdresekspressen bus service and exit at the Heggenes stop. From Heggenes, it is 13 km to Yddin; it is recommended to pre-book a taxi for this stretch. From Yddin, a winter trail marked with branches (twigs) leads toward the Storeskag or Haldorbu cabins.

Beitostølen

Take the bus to Beitostølen. The route continues along local cross-country ski trails before connecting to marked winter trails toward Storeskag. This option is longer than starting from Yddin, but features less demanding terrain. From Storeskag, trails connect further into Langsua toward destinations such as Haldorbu.
