Getting to Langsua

Langsua National Park is situated between the Valdres and Gudbrandsdalen valleys. The region is accessible via several road networks and public transportation routes.

Primary trailheads into Langsua include Lillehammer in the east, and Beitostølen or Yddin in the west. Alternatively, hikers can start from Gjendesheim in Jotunheimen and trek southeast via Sikkilsdalseter toward Oskampen. With proper planning, multi-day point-to-point or circuit treks can easily be completed without a private vehicle.

Access from Lillehammer (Eastern Approach)

Train and Bus to Liomseter:

From June 19 to September 6, 2026, a direct bus service operates between Lillehammer and Liomseter on Thursdays and Sundays. Read more about the bus service here

On other days, take the train to Lillehammer, followed by local bus 140 to Segalstad Bru (departures every 30 minutes,(check Innlandstrafikk for summer schedules)

From Segalstad Bru, onward transport can be booked via Gausdal Drosjesentral at +47 61 22 02 08.s

Train and Bus to Espedalen:

Take the train to Lillehammer, then local buses 140 and 5024 to Espedalen Fjellhotell or Dalseter Høyfjellshotell. From here, follow the T-marked trail to the self-service cabin Storhøliseter (approx. 3-hour hike). Timetables are available on Entur.no (search: Lillehammer to Espedalen Fjellhotell) 

From Lillehammer winter:

Train and Bus to Espedalen:

Take the train to Lillehammer, followed by the local bus to Espedalen Fjellhotell. From the hotel, it is approximately a 15 km ski tour along winter routes to Storhøliseter. Check Entur.no, for updated timetables. 


From Valdres and Jotunheimen

By bus summer

Heggenes / Yddin: Take the Valdresekspressen coach service toward Beitostølen and disembark at Heggenes. From Heggenes, it is 13 km to Yddin; pre-booking a taxi is required. From Yddin, follow the T-marked trails toward the Storeskag or Haldorbu cabins.

Valdresflye / Jotunheimen: Take the coach via Beitostølen and across the Valdresflye mountain plateau. From Valdresflye or Gjendesheim, follow the T-marked trails toward Sikkilsdalen and Oskampen.

By bus winter

Heggenes/Yddin

With the Valdres explosion against Beitostølen, get off at the stop Heggenes. From here it is 13 km to Yddin, and it is good to pre-book a taxi. From Yddin, you can follow a twig winter trail towards the cabins Storeskag or Haldorbu. 

Beitostølen

Take the bus via Beitostølen and follow cross-country trails and then branch trails towards Storeskag. This is a slightly longer hike than from Yddin, but it is a beautiful and gentle terrain. From Storeskag you can continue the trip in Langsua towards e.g. Haldorbu.
