Public Transportation to Hardangervidda
Hardangervidda is Northern Europe's largest high mountain plateau, offering extensive networks for hiking in the summer and skiing in the winter. The region is highly accessible via public transportation, with train access to Finse in the north, and bus services to Rjukan in the east and Haukeliseter in the south.
Train to Finse
The Bergen Railway stops at Finse station, located next to Finsehytta. This serves as a primary starting point for routes heading south across Hardangervidda during both summer and winter seasons. Alternatively, the train Hallingskeid, which offers accommodation at the self-service cabin, Hallingskeid.

Bus to Haukeliseter
Daily express buses operate between Oslo and Haugesund, stopping directly at Haukeliseter Fjellstue. This location is a main entry point for hikes heading north across the plateau.

Bus to Rjukan
Regular bus services run from Oslo to Rjukan, with a transfer at Notodden. From Rjukan, the the Krossobanen cable car provides transport up to the plateau
Note: To reach the cable car, exit the bus at the "Hydroparken" stop; from there, it is a 1.5 km walk to the Krossobanen station.

Summer Bus Service via Route 7
During the summer season, a bus service operates between Geilo and Eidfjord along Route 7 (Riksveg 7) across Hardangervidda. This route provides access to several key trailheads:
- Fagerheim: Starting point for hikes to Krækkja.
- Dyranut: Starting point for hikes to Sandhaug.
- Garen (Øvre Eidfjord): Starting point for hikes toward Hadlaskard.
