How do I become a member?
Sign up quickly and easily on the member pages on dnt.no. If you pay by credit card or Vipps (Norwegian mobile payment), your membership certificate becomes valid immediately. You can also purchase a membership directly from your local DNT member association.
Membership follows the calendar year and is valid from January 1 to December 31. The price remains the same throughout the year. Sales for the following year's membership open on September 1.
What are the benefits of a DNT membership?
As a member, you get discounted accommodation at over 600 cabins, discounts on outdoor gear, and you support our work maintaining trails across Norway. Read more here: Membership benefits
Does DNT offer family memberships?
Yes. A family membership covers a household living at the same address, with a maximum of two adults (over the age of 25) and an unlimited number of children/youth under the age of 26. You will receive a single invoice, but every family member gets their own personal membership number and digital card. Note: Remember to register the name and date of birth for EVERY family member when signing up. Read more here: Family membership
Can a membership be transferred to another person?
No. Memberships are strictly personal and non-transferable. There are no exceptions to this rule.
Can I be a member when I live abroad?
Yes, absolutely! If you live outside of Norway and wish to have our printed magazine Fjell & Vidde and the DNT Yearbook mailed to you, a postage surcharge of NOK 150 per year will apply.
How can I give a DNT membership as a gift?
You can easily buy a membership for someone else on our dedicated page: Gift Membership.
How do I renew a previous membership?
If you have been a member in the past, you can reactivate your account by logging in to medlem.dnt.no using your mobile number or email address. This ensures you keep your original membership number.
Why was I placed in a different membership category even though I am within the age limit?
Membership categories are calculated based on your age at the end of the current calendar year. For example, if you turn 26 at any point during the year, you will automatically be billed as an Adult Main Member (Hovedmedlem), even if you are 25 at the exact time you join or renew.
How do I change my membership type?
If you need to change your membership category for the upcoming year, you can do so yourself by logging into My Page (Min Side). If you need assistance, please contact our Member Services.
Payment of membership
Frequently asked questions and answers about paying for your membership in DNT
When will I receive the invoice for my annual membership renewal?
Invoices for the upcoming membership year are sent out to existing members between November and December of the previous year.
How do I renew my membership fee this year?
If you have a Norwegian bank account and have set up AvtaleGiro (direct debit) or eFaktura (e-invoice), the payment info will appear directly in your online bank. Alternatively, all members can log in and pay securely via credit card on My page.
Can I set up direct debit or e-invoices?
Yes, if you use a Norwegian online bank. You can register for AvtaleGiro or eFaktura yourself in your online bank when paying your membership fee. From the following year, the invoice will be handled automatically.
How do I cancel AvtaleGiro or eFaktura?
You must cancel or delete these automatic payment agreements directly within your own online banking portal.
How can I check if my membership fee has been paid?
Log in to My Page or open the "DNT medlem" app. If your current year's fee is paid, a green "Member" status will be displayed next to your name.
Managing Your Membership

How do I update my address, mobile number, or email?
You can update your personal contact details at any time by logging into My page. If you need help, please contact us.
How do I fix an incorrect name or date of birth on my profile?
For security and category placement, you cannot change your registered name or birthdate yourself. Please contact Member Services to correct this.
How do I subscribe or unsubscribe from DNT emails/SMS?
You can manage your communication preferences and consents directly under your profile settings on My Page.
Where can I find my membership number?
Your unique membership number is always visible on My Page and inside the digital membership app (DNT medlem).
How do I cancel my DNT membership?
If you wish to unsubscribe and end your membership, you can process your resignation on My page.
I cancelled my membership, but I still received an invoice or a magazine. Why?
Our mailing lists for invoices and magazines are generated well in advance. If your resignation was submitted right around a shipping date, the processes may have crossed paths.
Fjell & Vidde (Membership Magazine)

Why don't I get Fjell & Vidde?
Please log in to My Page (Min Side) and verify that the subscription option for Fjell & Vidde is selected. Under your profile settings, you can customize whether you want to receive the printed magazine and the DNT Yearbook. Also, ensure your registered address is correct and that your physical mailbox is clearly marked with your name.
Note for international members: If you reside outside of Norway, you can access and read both Fjell & Vidde and the DNT Yearbook digitally online.
How do I cancel Fjell & Vidde?
You can cancel Fjell & Vidde if you log in to My Page, and untick the box to receive the membership magazine.
Can I read Fjell & Vidde digitally?
Yes, you can read both Fjell & Vidde and the DNT Yearbook digitally. To access them, simply log in to My page (Min Side) first, then navigate to the main menu on dnt.no and select Fjell & Vidde.
