Many people associate DNT with the mountains, naturally enough. However, more and more people are discovering that as a DNT member, you have many opportunities for a nice and affordable summer holiday along the coast. Check out our coastal cabins and lighthouses!

Southern Norway
You can rent these cabins along the coast of Southern Norway. We can guarantee a holiday feeling at one of our nice lighthouses, guesthouses, small farms or charming southern cottages.
Holidays in Southern Norway offer rocks, salt water and good summer memories.
Lyngør Lighthouse
With all its white southern houses, Lyngør in Tvedestrand was named Europe's best preserved village in 1991.The tourist cabin Lyngør lighthouse was opened on 7 May 2011 and is located on Kjeholmen just northeast of Lyngør.
Randvik Coastal Trail Cabin
Randvik Kystledhytte opened in June 2024 and is located just outside Risør on the southern coast of Norway.
Store Torungen lighthouse
Store Torungen lighthouse is idyllically located on a separate island at the far end of the ocean gap and together with Lille Torungen lighthouse on the neighboring island, they mark the entrance to Arendal city.
The sailing cabin in Tvedestrand
The sailing cabin is idyllically located on Bjorholmen just outside Borøya in Tvedestrand. Borøya is located between Hagefjorden and Oksefjorden. From Seilerhytta there is a sea view of Møkkalasset lighthouse and a short distance to islets and reefs in Raet National Park.
Furøya
Furøya is an island with beautiful, old buildings in an old cultural landscape, in the middle of the Tvedstrandsfjord. Here you can rent the entire Tenant's House or rooms and a floor in the beautiful Guesthouse
Tømmerstø
Tømmerstø is a real southern gem, idyllically located by the sea in Kristiansand. Here you are guaranteed to get the summer feeling! Stay here for a few days and explore the hiking trails in the area, the countless swimming opportunities and the islands in the beautiful archipelago around Kristiansand.
Gammeløya
Gammeløya is located in Vestergapet near Kristiansand, here you can enjoy archipelago life on a "separate" island. Even though the island has a public pier, and the entire island is accessible to the public, even in midsummer you can experience finding peace and being alone here.
The farmhouse and Stegeløa on Li, and Dåtten
At Li in Flekkefjord you can spend the night in both Våningshuset and Stegeløa. You can hike in magical deciduous forest down to Dåtlandstrand where there is a quay, and you can spend the night in the brand new DNT cabin Dåtten. There are also climbing opportunities with the Via Ferrata. There are kayaks and boats, as well as fishing opportunities. In the yard of the farm, there is plenty of space for various activities on the lawn.
Eastern Norway

Øitangen
On the northern tip of Jomfruland, right in the heart of the National Park, you can spend the night in idyllic surroundings at Øitangen, swimming on the beautiful beaches, cycling, paddling, hiking or just enjoying yourself and finding peace. The island has a rich bird life and great paddling opportunities. In spring, white flowers abound with the morning sun shining into the old oak forest.
Herring Week
Are you tempted by a trip to a coastal trail cabin with a main house, boathouse and jetty right by the sea? At Sildevika you leave your kayaks right outside the door and enjoy the evening sun as it sinks over the horizon.
Håøya
Håøya is an idyllic island on the west side of Nøtterøy, north of Veierland in Færder municipality. You can stay overnight in two cabins on Håøya, which DNT Tønsberg rents out rooms or beds in. This is a real coastal gem, with opportunities for swimming, ball games, playing on the shore and boating. DNT rents out boats and kayaks to those who want it.
Eikenes
Eikenes East & West are two coastal cabins on the Ormerfjord, about 1 mile south-southeast of Porsgrunn. The cabins are booked separately. Both have five beds.
Mule Varde
How about an overnight stay in an idyllic coastal cabin that has hardly changed since it was established in 1874? At Mule Varde Turisthytte you will find both bathing beaches, fishing spots and a hiking trail through the forest. The cabin is located by the beautiful Eidangerfjord in Porsgrunn municipality.
The Little Kid
Veslekillingen is an idyllic summer cottage that is fantastically located in the middle of the island of Killingholmen in Sandebukta, north of Holmestrand. Here there is accommodation for 12 people divided into two apartments, a large patio and opportunities for swimming, paddling, rowing trips to neighboring islands and fishing.
Langøyene
The cabin on Langøyene is a cozy Swiss villa with 15 beds, located in the Inner Oslofjord. You can get here by scheduled boat in season, and you can also paddle a kayak or canoe here. A real idyll in the Oslo Fjord!
Breivoll Farm
Breivoll farm is a serviced facility with great courses, conference facilities for seminars and anniversaries. Here there are accommodation in the new timber barn, kayak rental and fantastic outdoor areas. In the winter there are opportunities for sledding for children, nature trail, campfire sites, great hiking areas along the coastal path that can be combined with an ancient road and cultural trail. The farm café is open on weekends all year round.
The driver's house at Elnestangen
The driver's residence at Elnestangen is located close to Vollen in Asker. The cabin has 11 beds, electricity and is locked with a standard DNT key. The cabin is intended for groups.
Gressholmen
Babord and Stybord are the two cabins on idyllic Gressholmen in the Oslo Fjord. Port is unmanned and you book bed by bed. Styrbord is the larger of the two DNT cabins on Gressholmen and is intended for groups, school classes, teams, associations and groups of friends.
Pelvic stones
Bekkensten is beautifully situated by the Oslo Fjord in Nordre Follo municipality, close to Ingiærstrand. The cabin is located by a nice swimming area and recreation area which is a popular place in the summer.
Western Norway

Geitungen lighthouse
Geitungen lighthouse was built in 1924, and is one of the last lighthouses built in the country. The lighthouses were a bastion along the entire coast, and the Haugesund Trekking Association was among the first to set up a DNT cabin on a lighthouse.
Nordvikgården
Nordvikgården is a beautiful unmanned tourist cabin on the island of Utsira, 70 minutes by boat from Haugesund. The cabin has 43 beds. To get to Nordvikgården you have to take the Utsira boat from Haugesund, the boat trip to Utsira takes about 1 hour and 10 minutes. It can be recommended to bring both a bike, proper hiking clothes and a fishing rod on one visit.
The Tangled Cabins
Flokehyttene consists of five cabins at the far end of the headland Ryvarden in Sveio. The cabins are clinging to the rock crevices as if they are waiting for the next wave. Inside the cabins, you can sit in warm, safe surroundings and experience the ocean through large panoramic windows.
Villa Vibrandsøy
Only 800 meters from the center of Haugesund is the island of Vibrandsøy, which consists of five islands, most of which are connected by footbridges. The island is not landlocked and has no roads, but is easily accessible by boat, canoe, kayak and scheduled boat. The house has been recreated as a venerable villa and was fully restored in 2022. Most of Vibrandsøy consists of green, unspoiled cultural landscape. The island is green and lush with sheltered coves and a long shoreline.
Fjøløy fort
Fjøløy fort is located close to the sea on Fjøløy, one of the islands in the former Rennesøy municipality that is located at the very end of the ocean gap. Welcome to a grand hall with military history in the walls! Fjøløy fort has two buildings, and is perfect for school classes, groups and teams who want to experience the beautiful island in the ocean gap.
Fjøløy tourist cabin
The small unmanned rental cabin on Fjøløy is located just below the top of the highest point on the island of Fjøløy, one of the islands in the former Rennesøy municipality that is furthest out in the ocean. It has a great location with lovely views! Here it is nice both on quiet summer days and when it is windy. The cabin is perfectly located to experience all that Fjøløy and the surrounding islands have to offer in terms of nature experiences.
Nodhagen
At Nodhagen you will find an archipelago idyll in Høgsfjorden, at the entrance to the Lysefjord.The cabin is located at Bersagel in Sandnes municipality. From Stavanger city center it is only a 40 minute drive. Nodhagen is surrounded by a fantastic green area with its own jetty, swimming beach and boathouse.
Eigerøy lighthouse keeper's residence
Eigerøy lighthouse keeper's house is located at the very end of Eigerøy in Egersund, as far west as the country stretches here in the south, with the open sea as its nearest neighbor. It is far enough in the lee that you are sheltered from the worst gusts of storms, but still far enough out in the ocean gap that you can feel it when the wind is raging outside. Here you can swim, fish, catch crabs and pick shells, paddle, row or go for a walk in the beautiful area.
Rongevær coastal cabin
Rongevær coastal cabin is located in Austrheim outside Bergen, and is an adventurous place for coastal activities. The tourist cabin consists of several buildings, piers and outdoor areas. Here you can come paddling alone or bring your company, extended family or group of friends and have a few unforgettable days in the ocean.
Skongenes lighthouse
Do you want to experience a fresh and different long weekend or holiday? Take a trip to Skongenes lighthouse near Stad in Northwest Norway. Here you can spend the night in the lighthouse keeper's house, enjoy the sheltered yard and experience an eldorado of cliffs, trails and exciting places to discover.
If you are first in Vågsøy, it is also well worth seeing Kannesteinen, Norway's largest natural polyp, Refviksanden, named one of Norway's most beautiful beaches and the stormy Kråkenes lighthouse and the cultural lighthouse Ulvesund.
Crows' Lighthouse
Kråkenes lighthouse is located at the far end of the sea gap by the Stadthavet, in the far northwest of the island of Vågsøy in Kinn municipality. In the lighthouse building you can rent the Storm Suite, here there is room for up to 4 people. Here you have the entire third floor to yourself and can enjoy both storms and fantastic sunsets.
Råkeneset
Råkeneset is one of DNT's westernmost cabins, and is located in Solund municipality in Vestland. The main house is 250 years old. The area around the houses is a peaceful place, with hay fields, rocks, and the beautiful strait into Råke. Råkeneset is part of the coastal route Solund, which goes west to Litle Færøy.
Round Lighthouse
Runde lighthouse is located at Kvalneset on the northwest tip of the famous bird island Runde. The island is home to around 500,000 birds, and the lighthouse buildings on the site are protected under the Cultural Heritage Act. The cabin is self-catering and has 24 beds.
Toralfbuda
Toralfbuda is located near Eiksund in Ulstein municipality, right in the middle of short and longer paddling trips in Sunnmøre's idyllic archipelago. The cabin is located close to Havågane nature reserve with Europe's northernmost oak forest. The cabin is beautifully located with the fjord straight out, great for swimming, fishing and enjoying the view from the pier.
Veøystua
Veøystua is DNT Romsdal's first coastal cabin and is located on the south side of historic Veøya in the Romsdalsfjord. The cabin has a simple standard, is unmanned and has four beds plus two mattresses.
Imarbu
Imarbu is located along the Fjord Route in Nordmøre, is a gem of a place, with a location that is just as attractive for families with children as it is for kayakers.
At Imarbu there is a boathouse where there are two beautiful goat boats at the disposal of everyone who uses the cabin. In addition, you will find fishing equipment, crab pots and a cooking station for crab in the boathouse. In other words, everything is in place for active days for the whole family with dinner straight from the sea as motivation.
Northern Norway
Rent a cabin or a small house on the shore in Northern Norway, and get an experience completely out of the ordinary! Northern Norway offers some of the most beautiful coastlines in the country. Check out the charming cottages and accommodations along the coast in the north.

Gjælentunet
Gjælentunet is Bodø and Omegns Trekking Association's closest offer to Bodø's population. The facility consists of four cabins, some outbuildings, boathouses and two boats and has the country's lowest located tourist association cabin, Egnarbua, two meters above the flood level.
Gjælentunet is very suitable for school classes, kindergartens and groups, and is adapted with teaching materials. The meadow and the beach at Egnarbua are also a favorite destination for day trips.
Guvåghytta
Guvåghytta at Oksneset in Bø municipality offers both peace and activity for the whole family. The cabin offers everything from rowing boat and canoe rental to climbing walls in the immediate vicinity. The landscape in Vesterålen is absolutely beautiful, here the striking mountain slopes rise steeply up from the beaches and sea, with pointed peaks and deep bottoms in between. In this peaceful spot, you get the tranquility you often thirst for in the city's narrow streets.
The old house in Skipsfjorden
The old house in Skipsfjorden is the place where you feel small in big, endless nature. Troms Turlag has rented this beautiful place from the landowner, and here you can enjoy the midnight sun's wandering over the sea surface or just be close to the sea.
The old house is located in a green, friendly landscape, surrounded by high, mighty mountains - some stretch 1000 meters above sea level. There are great hiking opportunities here, both on the plain and on the mountain ridges. We encourage you to follow marked hiking trails and to stick to the trails. Skipsfjorden is a landscape conservation area, and has vulnerable sand dunes that collapse if people step on them. This also applies when you have passed the bridge and are approaching the cabin. Follow the arrows. No new paths will be built in the area.
Indre Syltevik
On the northeast tip of the Varanger peninsula is this small cabin that you can rent for NOK 100 per night. Indre Syltevik is the easternmost DNT cabin and is located further east than Istanbul.
