As a basic tour leader, you are qualified to lead trips in the lowlands on trails and roads, mainly in the summer.
As a certified Basic Tour Leader (Grunnleggende turleder), you are qualified to lead hiking groups in lowland terrain along established trails and roads, primarily during the summer season.
Please note that this course is conducted in Norwegian.
Admission Requirements
Prerequisite: Completed DNT Ambassador Course.
Age: Minimum 16 years of age.
Please note: Most regional DNT associations also require active DNT membership to participate in this course.
Course Content
The curriculum focuses on core hosting and leadership skills, including:
The role and responsibilities of a DNT tour leader
Outdoor communication and educational storytelling (formidling)
Map reading, navigation, and terrain awareness
Proper clothing, gear selection, food, and hydration
Effective trip planning and group management
Norwegian hiking culture and outdoor traditions
Course Structure & Completion
Duration: 15 hours in total.
Schedule: Typically conducted over a single weekend.
Format: The training takes place primarily outdoors, emphasizing hands-on practical exercises and field scenarios.
