Take the Bus to the Mountains – Receive a Green Travel Card Voucher

If you travel by bus to a DNT cabin participating in the Green Travel Card (Grønt Kort) scheme, you will receive a NOK 150 voucher to use during your stay this summer.

The Green Travel Card (Grønt Kort) voucher is our way of thanking you for choosing a more eco-friendly travel option. The voucher can be used to purchase food or non-alcoholic beverages at the cabin.

This scheme is a joint collaboration between DNT, local bus operators, and our cabin hosts to reward guests who choose a greener journey to the mountains.

Simply present your bus ticket when checking in at a participating cabin to receive your voucher. Please note that the Green Travel Card benefit is exclusively available to overnight guests.

You can plan your entire journey using the Entur app or on Entur's website

Terms & Conditions: How it Works

  • Eligibility: The Green Travel Card (Grønt Kort) is handed out to guests who take the bus to or from participating cabins. This also applies if your route requires a day's hike from the bus stop to reach the cabin.

  • Ticket Verification: You must present a valid bus ticket (printed or in-app). The ticket must be dated for the same day, the day before your arrival, or the following day if you are taking the bus home from the cabin.

  • One Voucher Per Guest: A maximum of one voucher can be issued per guest, per cabin. The same bus ticket cannot be reused to claim multiple vouchers at different cabins.

  • Exclusively for Overnight Guests: Vouchers are only available to guests staying overnight at the cabin.

  • Campaign Period: The scheme runs throughout the summer season (June, July, and August). Note: Haukeliseter distributes Green Travel Cards to its guests all year round.

  • Voucher Value & Usage: The voucher is worth NOK 150 and can only be used to purchase food or non-alcoholic beverages at the cabin.

The Background Behind the Green Travel Card

The Green Travel Card (Grønt Kort) is a joint initiative by DNT, Nor-Way Bussekspress, and Innlandstrafikk.

Approximately 75% of greenhouse gas emissions related to outdoor recreation and tourism originate from transport. When more people choose public transit, these emissions are reduced considerably. The Green Travel Card aims to make public transportation a more accessible and attractive choice for travel and outdoor adventures.

The Institute of Transport Economics (TØI) is also a key partner in this project. They will conduct insight work to closely examine the motivations behind choosing public transit, as well as how infrastructure and incentive programs influence travel behavior over time. This research will yield exciting, actionable insights with high transfer value for future sustainable developments.

Plan Ahead: Buy Your Bus Ticket and Book Accommodations

NOR-WAY Bussekspress and Innlandstrafikk provide convenient routes directly to the mountains. To ensure a smooth journey, we highly recommend planning your route and purchasing your tickets in advance. You can easily check timetables and buy tickets via Entur, or directly through the operators' own websites:  NOR-WAY Bussekspress and Innlandstrafikk.

If you want to pre-book accommodation, you will find a link on the  UT.no, or via the official DNT cabin booking page.
