Det er noe eget med å jobbe på en turisthytte langt til fjells. Samholdet som blir i gjengen, nye bekjentskaper og gode minner. På Rondvassbu er vi 20-25 ansatte i sommersesongen og 10-12 personer i vintersesong. Vintersesongen 2026 er fra 27. februar til 2. påskedag, mens sommersesongen er fra 19. juni til 13. september. A little about the operation of the cabin
Rondvassbu is one of DNT's (The Norwegian Trekking Association) cabins and has around 13,000 overnight guests every year in addition to many day visitors.
The cabin is located in the middle of the country in Rondane National Park, which is Norway's oldest national park. It is not allowed to drive your own car into the cabin, but there is a gravel road that Rondvassbu has permission to drive to transport goods, staff etc. It is 22 km to Otta which is the nearest town and it is 6 km to the parking lot where our guests park.
At Rondvassbu, we will be the best at service from the time guests arrive until they check out. We have a strong focus on serving the best food, having the cleanest cabin and that all guests who leave Rondvassbu should be satisfied. Therefore, it is important that you who work with us are service-minded and listen to the guest's needs and solve any problems in the best possible way.
Seasonal
Rondvassbu is a seasonal business with seasonal variations. This implies that some periods are calm, while others are very intensive. Thus, it is important that you have a good willingness to work, a positive attitude and do your best to ensure that the guests at Rondvassbu enjoy themselves. Even though everyone has different tasks, you work in teams, which means that you help each other when needed.
Workday
On a normal day at Rondvassbu, you work about 7.5 hours, depending on how many guests we have. During intensive periods, you may have to work 10 hours some days. Everyone who works has at least one day off a week. In your spare time, it is important to be social with your colleagues and do things together to maintain a good working environment. It can be anything from going on excursions to relaxing in the staff housing.
