Med Fondsbu som utgangspunkt kan du gå en rekke fine dagsturer i området - alt fra enkle, barnevennlige turer til krevende toppturer. På vinterstid går det kvistede ruter i alle himmelretninger. I tillegg er hytta både et naturlig startsted og overnattingssted på en rundtur gjennom området.
Fondsbu er et populært stopp på flere hytte-til-hytte-ruter i Jotunheimen. Her kan du gå gjennom varierte fjellandskap, med mulighet for turer fra blant annet Gjendebu, Olavsbu og Skogadalsbøen. Hytta ligger lett tilgjengelig ved Bygdin og er et godt utgangspunkt for både korte dagsetapper og lengre fjellturer.
From Eidsbugarden there are many great hiking opportunities. The hike up to Utsikten can be recommended. The same can be the trip to Torshammaren, Sløtafjellet, Gravafjellet or any of the other "7-Peaks" around Eidsbugarden. Ask for a booklet at the reception.
It was Aaamund Olavson Vinje who put the name Jotunheimen on the entire mountain area, he put the name Eidsbugarden on the place and he is behind the naming of both Falketind, Mjølkedalen, Galdebergstinden and Storegut. The view was Vinje's favorite town at Eidsbugarden, which is understandable because the panorama is incredible. There is a aiming disc on the top so you can easily find the name of the peaks you see.
In the summer, many of the cabin-to-cabin routes pass through Fondsbu, and there are a number of day trips available from Fondsbu, both round trips and summit trips.
