Aurlandsdalen Turisthytte (tidligere Østerbø Turisthytte) ligger i hjertet av Aurlandsdalen og har tradisjoner som går godt over 100 år tilbake i tid og ble startet som skysstasjon i 1894 med støtte fra DNT.
The cabin is an excellent starting point if you want to hike the beautiful Aurlandsdalen valley or the mountains in the area and is a natural part of the hike Finse – Geiteryggen – Aurland (Vassbygdi).
We are close to Flåm, the Flåm Railway, the UNESCO listed Nærøyfjord, Borgund and Undredal stave churches and the Sognefjord. With the cabin as a starting point, it is also possible to take day trips to Prest, Rimstigen, Hovdungo and Skjerdal.
The cabin is perfect for all age groups, and not least families with small children. If someone wants to stay several nights at the cabin, there are many opportunities for activities in the local area. Along the river down the Aurlandsdalen valley there are many idyllic swimming pools, which can be perfect for a relaxing day in the sun.
Try your luck at fishing
Otherwise, the place is an eldorado for those who want to try their luck at fishing.
There are fishing lakes everywhere, both near Østerbø and on the road from Geiterygghytta and Kongshelleren, such as the E-Ridge Cabin. Nyhellervatnet and Kongshellervatnet.
Vargabreen is also a great day trip from Østerbø, where there is also a large mountain lake with good fishing opportunities.
Langedalen is a good starting point for those who want to go on short or longer day trips from Østerbø.
Fishing licenses can be purchased at the cabin.
Activities in the cabin area
In the area by the cabin there is a large playground for children, young people and adults. In addition to a volleyball court and various games, we have boats and canoes for loan.
If you want to try your luck at fishing in Aurdalsvannet in Østerbø, we also have fishing rods for loan.
For the little ones, there is a 1.3 km nature trail with start and end at the cabin.
