Draining of Ramstadsjøen in Østmarka

Important information for our guests at the DNT cabin Huldreheim in Rælingen in Østmarka

Published: September 17, 2024
DNT's offer
  • In connection with the rehabilitation of the dams on Ramstadsjøen, the water in the lake must be drained.

  • In the summer and autumn of 2024, it will therefore look very different at the Huldreheim cabin.

  • Trails will be rerouted, but it will be clearly marked where to go.

  • We recommend our guests to bring drinking water and we are working to find an alternative water source to washing water.

This is what Rælingen municipality says about the project:

🍀 Ramstadsjøen is a very important outdoor recreation area for Rælingen, and precisely on the basis of the dam facility's importance for outdoor life and experiences in the local area, Rælingen municipality took over ownership of the dam facility.

💧 In order to carry out the project, the water in Ramstadsjøen must be drained significantly. The draining will start in June 2024, and it will take about 40 days before the water is fully drained. The actual rehabilitation is expected to start during August, with completion in November. When the rehabilitation work is completed, Ramstadsjøen will be filled up again to today's water level. This will take place through natural inflow, and the municipality expects normal water levels to be reached in May 2025.

💚 All affected areas will be cleared and renovated, and arrangements will be made for rapid natural revegetation after the work on the ponds has been completed.

There will be major changes in the terrain during the period when the water is drained. But it will be perfectly fine again from May 2025, promises Rælingen Municipality. Maybe it will also be a little exciting to follow the project?
