Lysebotn is the center of a number of extreme races and events
Base jumping, running, cycling, swimming and roller skiing, in Lysebotn you see most of the extreme. How about sitting in our backyard and watching the base jumpers descend from the sky, or getting up at 5 a.m. one morning in August, to watch the participants of ThorXtri swim towards shore. Or how about watching the world's elite skiing/biathlon stake their way up the 27 hairpin turns.

Lysefjorden Inn
How about combining Lysefjorden Inn with Pentecost in Lysebotn. Bring the family and experience Lysebotn at its best, with trips for young and old, water activities, hiking trail, swimming, family fun in the fireplace lounge and good food. Send in the family on Friday and recharge in peace and quiet before the race. Or take an extra night, relax in the garden or in the fireplace lounge and eat good food.
SBK Base rents out paddle boards, canoes, kayaks, pedal boats, bicycles and fishing equipment. And in Lysebotn you will find one of Norway's finest frisbee golf courses. We have a trampoline in the garden, and there is a playground for the little ones a few hundred meters away.
There is a boat from/to Lauvvik/Forsand to Lysebotn on Friday, Sunday and Monday. There are many people who travel during Pentecost, so remember to book a place well in advance. It is also great to drive over the mountains.

Heliboogie
Heliboogie is a festival for base jumpers from all over the world. The festival lasts a week, but for four days the jumpers are flown by helicopter up to Kjerag and jump, hence the name Heliboogie. Around 200 jumpers from all over the world gather in Lysebotn for a week at the end of June. We are usually fully booked all week, but it is worth seeing life in Lysebotn this week, so feel free to take a day trip into Lysebotn.

Rockman Swimrun
Rockman swimrun will be held for the 10th time in 2024 and this time it is tougher than ever. From Refsvatnet at Preikestolen Basecamp, the participants will swim and run to the Eagle's Nest, the starting point for the trip to Kjerag. 7 swimming stages of 6 km in total (some of this in mountain lakes) and 7 running stages of 45 km in total, altitude meter 3500. The runners start on 13. July at 6 a.m. and the last ones must be at the finish line before 11 p.m. We are fully booked this day, but you are nearby, so the participants probably need a little cheer.
Lysefjorden opp (Blinkfestivalen)
For the 15th time, the uphill race Lysebotn opp is arranged in connection with the Blink Festival. The world's elite in cross-country skiing and biathlon will come to Lysebotn on July 31st. 1-2 km for girls and boys and 7.5 km for women and men junior and senior. In addition to the uphill race of 7.5 km, 7.5 km poling will be arranged for women and men seniors for the sixth year. Try it whoever wants.
There is life in Lysebotn this day and we can offer accommodation. Book a room here:

ThorXtri
ThorXtri is the race for the extreme. It is a half distance triathlon that starts on August 10, 2024 at 5 am. We think it's hard enough to serve breakfast at 0330! But this is actually the favorite breakfast of the year. It's dark outside, a tense atmosphere and nice participants. After breakfast, the race starts with a brisk swim of 1900 meters in the Lysefjord. Then follows an 89.49 km and 2686 altitude meter bike ride from Lysebotn up the 27 hairpin bends over the mountain and along Suleskarveien, before they turn around and cycle back and stop at Øygardstøl. There awaits a run to Kjerag and back, a round trip of about 20 km and 1000 meters of altitude. We have seen these participants in action for many years, and we bow in the dust. A good dinner and a good night's sleep are well deserved after a day like that. Accommodation for athletes takes place through the organizer, but if you want to book a room outside the event, then see here: Lysefjorden Turisthytte | DNT Cabin Booking
The Lysebotn Bryne Race
The bike race from Lysebotn to Bryne is held every year in August, this year on August 10. The race is 147 km long, 2200 meters of altitude in total and the start goes from 0 to 932 meters above sea level in 15 km, as the start of the race. The race is the largest road race in Rogaland.
