How to get to Glitterheim

There is no ploughed road to Glitterheim in winter. We transport our guests by snowcat/snowmobile from Veoli.

Transport by snowcat

In winter, we can drive our overnight guests all the way to Glitterheim with our snowcats. We run twice a week. Book a place directly with us at Glitterheim, we  drive from Veoli in Sjodalen and straight into the heart of Jotunheimen.

Parking lot

There is a plowed parking lot in Sjodalen (Veoli), about 10 min. driving from Randsverk. Possibly by car via Heidalen to Veoli.
NB! The road over Valdresflya is closed for the winter. 25 km marked trail from Veoli to the cabin.

We are helpful with transport from the train station at Otta and to Veoli, contact us by e-mail.

Public transport to the national park border

In the summer, there is a train/bus across Otta to Randsverk or a bus via Fagernes to Randsverk.  

Taxi from Randsverk - it is possible to taxi into the national park border in Veodalen.

Bus from Randsverk - In high season you can book a bus at Innlandstrafikk (can also be a taxi at bus price).

Own car to the National Park Border

If you drive your own car and come Valdresflya or E6 Gudbrandsdalen (exit at Sjoa through Heidal), you take off highway 51 to Randsverk and drive 23 km along a gravel road (toll road) to the parking lot on the National Park border.
Parking is free. From there is about 1.5 hours of walking or about 45 min. bike ride on a gravel road to Glitterheim.

If you are coming from the west (Lom) you drive highway 15 to Garmo, from there the mountain road Hesthagen - Smørli (toll road) signposted to Glitterheim. It is about 45 km from Lom to the National Park border. 

Note: On Google Maps, the parking lot shows as Veodalen parking, marked as a bus stop. As of today, it says that this is closed on a permanent basis. This is not true for the parking lot itself. We are working to correct the information. 

Access from the national park border into the cabin

Walk or cycle from the barrier at the national park border:

• From here it is 7 km into Glitterheim which you have to walk or cycle. You can rent a bike - bikes are available at the barrier, and there is no booking of bikes from the national park border. See more information below.

• During opening hours, we have bike rental to/from the national park border.  
• There is no order for the bikes that are parked at the national park border. 
• We have bikes in most sizes, including children's bikes, and bike trailers.  
  Price NOK 100 per bike per road, and NOK 75 per bike trailer per road.
