Kiting involves using a kite to harness the power of the wind and achieve movement. The speed you can achieve with a kite depends on the wind strength and the surface. Usually you can achieve a speed that is 2-3 times the wind speed. Kiting isn't just a sport, it's a way to explore the terrain and play with the wind in your local hiking area.
Kite course at Finse
The best way to get started with kiting is to take a kite course. At Finse, kite courses are offered almost every weekend from January to April. In May, larger groups can also book courses on request. The courses provide an in-depth introduction to kiting, from basic techniques to more advanced skills. With experienced instructors from Skikite and optimal conditions, Finse is the perfect place to learn kiting.
The course costs NOK 3950 and includes:
2 days of training with experienced instructors
Kite equipment for the weekend (kites in different sizes and harness)

Finse regatta is a fun weekend where wind enthusiasts from all over the country gather for social fun with kite and sail. On Saturday, an informal competition will be arranged, where kite and ski sail compete in the same class. Here there is room for everyone. Both the trained but also for the new ones who want to participate in something that should exclusively be a good experience. We also have good partners with us.
