
How to get to Geiterygghytta
Geiterygghytta is easily accessible from the east and west. From the parking lot and the bus stop at Geiteryggen on county road 50 Hol-Aurland, it is 3 km to walk to the cabin. The trip over from Finse, on skis or on foot is very popular.
Access winter
By train and bus:
During the winter season, there is only a bus at Easter from Ål or Geilo to Geiteryggen west. From the bus stop at Vestredalsvatnet, it is about 5 km to walk along the twig route to the cabin.
The Easter bus - from Geilo and Ål to Geiteryggen west
Throughout Easter, it is easy to travel by public transport to Geiterygghytta. Every day there is a bus from Geilo and Ål station up to the parking lot Geiteryggen west. From here it is only 5 km to the cabin.

By car:
If you go by car from the Oslo area, you drive the E16 to Hønefoss. Take off to Highway 7 towards Gol and on towards Geilo. At Hagafoss, 10 km. before Geilo, turn off and follow county road 50 (Hol-Aurland) through the Geiterygg tunnel to the parking lot at Vesterdalsvatnet.
If you drive from the Bergen area, follow the E16 to Aurland. Turn right at the roundabout and follow county road 50 towards Hol until you reach the parking lot at Vesterdalsvatnet on the west side of the Geiterygg tunnel.
Parking: On the west side there is a parking lot approx. 400 meters from the Geiterygg tunnel. From here it is 5 km along a marked trail into the cabin. There are no twigs from the east side of the Geiterygg tunnel due to the possible risk of landslides.
Passenger and luggage transport: can be arranged by appointment with the hosts.
Access summer and autumn
By train and bus
The cabin is easily accessible by train. There is a bus daily to and from Geiteryggen, which corresponds with the morning train between Oslo and Bergen. Take the train to Ål station, from there bus 850 and get off Geiteryggen Øst skyss.no.
By car
If you go by car from the Oslo area, you drive the E16 to Hønefoss. Take off to Highway 7 towards Gol and on towards Geilo. At Hagafoss, 10 km. before Geilo, turn off and follow county road 50 (Hol-Aurland) to the Geiterygg tunnel. Parking at both ends of the tunnel.
If you drive from the Bergen area, follow the E16 to Aurland. Turn right at the roundabout and follow county road 50 towards Hol to the Geiterygg tunnel. Parking at both ends of the tunnel.
Parking: There are good parking opportunities at both ends of the Geiterygg tunnel From both parking lots/bus stops, it is only 3 km easy walk on a gravel road into the cabin.
If you choose to drive to Geiterygghytta to walk the Aurlandsdalen valley, you can take a bus up to the parking lot at Geiterygghytta.
Luggage transport: Can be arranged with the hosts.
On foot or on skis from Finse
Take the train to Finse from Oslo or Bergen. From there, you head north and into Skarvheimen towards Geiterygghytta. On foot or on skis. This is a trip of about 6-7 hours in beautiful and magnificent high mountain terrain.
If you take the morning train, you have time to walk the trip the same day. But it is extra nice to take an overnight stay at Finsehytta and enjoy the view of Hardangerjøkulen, before starting the trip over to us at Geiterygghytta.
