Spectacular views

Although we at DNT believe that all our 600 cabins deserve a visit, there are some cabins that provide something extra. That's why we've picked out a number of cabins with stunning views, whether you're seeking a quiet break with panoramic views of majestic fjords, or a spectacular sunset from a mountain top, we can almost guarantee unique nature experiences at these cabins.

Kiellandbu in the Kvam and Vossa mountains

Kiellandbu is beautifully located on the Løkjedal nose with impressive views of Botnen, Fyksesund and the Folgefonna glacier by the Hardangerfjord. The cabin has become well known through iconic motifs!

Fannaråkhytta in Jotunheimen

Fannaråkhytta is Norway's highest tourist cabin, 2068 meters above sea level. From here you can see, among other things, Hurrungane's peaks, Smørstabbrean and Jostedalsbreen. Sunrise with Jotunheim peaks in a 360 degree view is a view you will never forget.

Tåkeheimen on Saltfjell and Svartisen

Tåkeheimen is located at the foot of Helgelandsbukken on the west side of Svartisen within Saltfjellet-Svartisen National Park. The cabin offers an absolutely fantastic view out towards the fjord and just behind the cabin is majestic Svartisen.

Brydalsseter by the Sognefjord

Brydalsseter is a small cottage in a mountain farm above Ortnevik in Sogn. The cabin is beautifully located on a small mountain ledge with a view of the Sognefjord in the Stølsheimen landscape conservation area

Fuglemyrhytta in Oslomarka

Norway's most visited tourist cabin close to the city. The trip to the cabin is a great experience where you walk through old-growth forest that has not been cultivated for a hundred years. Arriving at the cabin there is a bright and nice view of Nesoddlandet and out over the Oslo Fjord.

The Skåla Tower and Skålabu at Jostedalsbreen

The Klouman Tower at the top of Skåla 1843 meters above sea level is undoubtedly Norway's, if not the world's, most peculiar tourist cabin.

Next to the iconic tower you will find Skålabu. The cabin was built in 2016 and replaced the tower as the main cabin. There are considerably better facilities here, but the view is just as powerful. If you choose to stay overnight, you get to experience the magical light both evening and morning - completely unforgettable!

The Northern Lights Observatory in Alta

Up at 907 meters above sea level is this beautiful cabin dating back to 1899. Here you will spend the night in a historic building and a magical 360-degree view. In addition, the cabin has a glass dome over the old observatory tower. Here you can see in all directions, and it is possible to sleep in the dome, with your own hammock.

Fivla in Breheimen

Fivla is nicely located above the forest line on the route between Vigdalsstølen and Navarsete in Breheimen. Close to the cabin is the viewpoint peak Fivlenosi (1466 masl.) where you have the whole of Jotunheimen and much of Breheimen in front of you.

Vollasetra in Sunndal and Trollheimen

Vollasetra is a beautiful farm farm located above Vollan Farm in Sunndal. The farm was built in about 1860, and has been restored by Kristiansund and Nordmøre Trekking Association.

Kjølihytta in Sylan

Kjølihytta is located in the weather, high and free under Kjølifjellet, with an impressive view of the east and south towards the Syl massif, Skardørsfjella, Vigelfjella and Riasten.

Gaustatoppen Turisthytte in Telemark

Gaustatoppen Turisthytte is located almost all the way up on Gaustatoppen (1883 m). The cabin was built as early as 1893, and is built of natural stone from the top. From the tourist cabin and Gaustatoppen you have an incredible view of large parts of southern Norway.

Blåfjellenden in Frafjord and Bjerkreim

Blåfjellenden - enjoy the panoramic view with freshly harvested blueberries from the beautiful landscape around the cabin. If you secure a seat at the window table at this cottage gem, you can enjoy both dinner and panoramic views of the beautiful Fidja Valley.

Vasstindbu in Romsdalen

Anyone who gets to experience a sunrise or sunset at Vasstindbu has a memory for life! The cabin is located on the mountain ridge between Horndalen and Kjøvdalen with majestic views on all sides.
